The Critical Role of Balustrade Systems
Glass railings provide clean modern aesthetics for balconies, mezzanines, and staircases. However, since they serve as vital safety barriers, structural integrity and compliance with local building safety codes are paramount.
A balustrade must withstand high wind loads and lateral forces from crowds. Every detail, from glass selection to track mounting, must be designed to meet strict safety standards.
Dry Grouting: Fast Adjustments & Clean Finish
Dry grouting uses specialized metal clamping plates, plastic isolators, and adjustment wedges to secure glass panels inside the aluminium base shoe.
This method allows for quick adjustments, making it easy to align panels during installation. It also simplifies replacing panels if a glass sheet is damaged, as no chemical adhesive needs to be removed.
Wet Grouting: High-Strength Permanent Locking
Wet grouting uses high-strength, non-shrink chemical grouts poured directly into the base channel, locking the glass permanently into place.
This creates a solid connection between the glass and the channel base, minimizing panel movement. However, it requires precise installation, as panels cannot be adjusted once the grout sets.
